Sylvia Chahonyo is a senior executive with proven expertise in investment banking, legal, credit and risk management, and is passionate about deepening African capital markets and facilitating access to funding for African entities. As Managing Director at GCR Ratings East Africa she heads the leading ratings agency in Africa. Previously she was with Standard Bank in Debt Capital Markets before becoming General Manager and Executive Director with Moody’s Investors Service in Johannesburg, South Africa. Sylvia also spent two years supporting the inaugural youth project of the Liyaba Rainbow Foundation as a participant in the 2013-14 edition of the Clipper Race. She is a law graduate wit honours and completed the Oxford High Performance Leadership Programme at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, UK in 2017.
